Researching Stephen's family is sometimes tough. I don't have the memories they do and my questions ain't answered as fast as I would like them to be. Only because those questions usually arise in my brain at midnight. I am stuck on Samuel Dangerfield and his parents right now. Talk about an allusive family.
I know when Samuel was born and date of his death. There isn't a whole lot in between. I have Philip C. Dangerfield as his father with his mother being Annie Locklier They resided in Second Saint James Creek, Berkeley South Carolina. There is also another Dangerfield family that had a son Philip c. same dates as Samuel's Dad, but they are listed as mulatto. Could it be the same person? Is it possible that there was a mixed relationship along the lines of when slavery was around, or were they American Indian?
Here is what I have: Samuel Horace Dangerfield Born March 1899 Died 20 May 1944 Married sometime between 1920-1926 He was a Barber, and according to his daughter Grandma Dorothy Dangerfield Gerth he owned three Barber shops in charleston, South Carolina. On his death record it states his parents names Philip C. Dangerfield and Annie Locklier. Locklier has been spelled Lockliar too. He was buried in Bethany Cemetery.
The census I have in 1910 St. Johns Berkeley, South Carolina is: *******************************************
Philip C. 50
Annie 38
Eva 13
Samuel 11
Florie 9
Moses 7
Sedbrook 4
Philip C. 1
All where born in South Carolina, so I am going to start with this line and see where it takes me.
